U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) Mobilizes for Haitian relief

U.S. military forces are mobilizing to support international disaster relief efforts underway in Haiti following the Jan. 12 earthquake that ravaged the Caribbean nation.   


The focus of the mission is search and rescue as well as disaster relief.  All military efforts are in support of USAID, which is orchestrating U.S. government contributions to the relief mission.
